Reports to: Director of Behavioral Health
Location: Unalaska, Alaska
Status: Full Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday – some flexibility required for occasional weekend activities (outreach)
Education: Minimum of some College education 
  I. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY

  • Reports to: Kim Honan, Director of Behavioral Health
  • Key Working Relationships: Behavioral Health Clinicians, Case Management, Med. Providers 
  • Primary Customer Groups: Behavioral Health Clinicians, Patients, External Organizations
  • Age of Patients Served: All Ages 
II. STANDARDS OF CONDUCT
A. Appearance:
  1. Maintain professional appearance, and abide by dress code while working and representing IFHS. 
  2. Demonstrate actions that support maintaining a positive and clean facility appearance. 
B. Attitude:

  1. Greet patients, smile, and maintain eye contact.

  3. Conduct all communication with patient confidentiality as my primary goal. 
  4. Be mindful to keep personal life issues in your home and socialize professionally at work.

E. Communication: 
 
  1. Rephrase patient requests/ concerns/ need to show you have understood them. 
  2. Keep customers/patients appropriately informed and updated during their visit. 
  3. Maintain confidentiality at all times. 
  4. Use proper voice and e-mail etiquette. 
  5. Use proper and professional telephone etiquette. 
  6. Take notes and pass on information to appropriate people as soon as possible. 

III. JOB SUMMARY
A. Duties:
  1. Responsible for scheduling/ re-scheduling patients and making appointment reminder calls.
  2. Communicates messages between patients and behavioral health clinicians as needed. 
  3. Communicates messages between medical providers and behavioral health clinicians as needed. 
  4. Attends to, researches, and follows up on patient billing and insurance questions. 
  5. Maintains Behavioral Health specific documents and provides them to patients as needed. 
  6. Files, scans, and prints Behavioral Health documents, records, and communications as needed. 
  7. Organizes, maintains, and appropriately disposes of Behavioral Health charts as per IFHS policies. 
  8. Organizes and maintains Behavioral Health equipment, orders items as needed. 
  9. Researches information and data as requested by Behavioral Health Clinicians. 
  10. Researches and maintains Behavioral Health handouts, brochures, fliers as requested. 
  11. Completes minor handouts, fliers, notices, and other informational materials as requested. 
  12. Completes research and provides support for grant writing and credentialing efforts as needed. 
  13. Attend and support community outreach activities as assigned 
  14. Other duties within the realm of administrative support as assigned when needed. 
IV. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Experience in the administration of behavioral health care or social services preferred. 
  2. Must be able to interact in English with staff, patients, and public both verbally and written. 
  3. Must have manual dexterity of hands/fingers for frequent computer work, writing, and filing. 
  4. Involves occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and occasionally pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs. 
  5. Involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking. 
  6. Involves frequent telephone use. 
  7. Must have vision adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.

IFHS will be closed from noon to 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday only.
IFHS OPENS AT 9:30 AM the third Wednesday of each month due to our all-staff meeting.
