
Megan Sarnecki, MD

Dr. Sarnecki is a family medicine physician originally from Wisconsin. Megan obtained her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison graduating in 2002. Megan did her residency training in Anchorage, Alaska at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency program; she has been with IFHS since 2016. Megan came to the island with her husband and two children; you can find her hiking, skiing, camping or beach combing with her family when not at work. Her past experience includes Seward Alaska ER, Providence Family Medicine Residency Faculty in Anchorage, Partnership Community Health Center in Missoula, Montana, The Rocky Boy reservation in Box Elder, Montana and Montana State University Student Health Service in Bozeman Montana.

Murray Buttner, MD

Dr. Buttner is a family medicine physician originally from New England. He obtained his medical degree, in 1994, from Columbia University in New York City. He did his residency at the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque. Subsequently, he moved to Alaska, where he worked in Klawock, Juneau and Cordova. He has also been a faculty member at the Alaska Family Medicine Program in Anchorage. Dr. Buttner and his family are excited to be back living and practicing in "real" Alaska.

Jennifer Heller, CNM
Jennifer Heller is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), she is a life-long Alaskan, growing up in South Central Alaska and fishing with her family in Bristol Bay. Listening to stories from fisher folk about the Aleutians as a teenager, Unalaska seemed exotic and exciting, Jennifer dreamed of coming here.
Jennifer went out of state for school then came back to work for ANMC in Anchorage where she met her husband, Murray Buttner. Moving to Connecticut, Jennifer fulfilled her long-time dream of becoming a midwife.
Midwife means "with woman" and midwives are trained to be primary health care providers for women, not only during birth but across their lifespan, a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner with the added component of attending low risk births. The care Jennifer provides includes adolescent health, preventative screenings, well-woman exams, family planning guidance and contraception, prenatal and postpartum services, and menopausal care. Jennifer has a passion for serving women at all stages of their lives and is honored and thrilled to be providing care in Unalaska.
