FLSA Job Status: Exempt
Education/Licensure: Minimum of a Masters level degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology.  Alaska licensure.  Able to supervise other behavioral health counselors effectively.  Have appropriate licensure or certification (or ability to obtain licensure/certification) in mental health and substance abuse, LCSW or LPC.  Two to three years’ experience in assessing and treating persons with mental illness and substance abuse issues.

A. Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
B. Key Working Relationships: Practitioners, Medical Support Staff, Mental Health Clinicians, and Administration
C. Primary Customer Groups: External Practitioners, Patients and their family members, and Vendors/Customers
D. Aged of Patients Served: All
 
II.STANDARD OF CONDUCTS
A. Appearance:

III.JOB SUMMARY
  1. Schedule: Will have a flexible schedule that includes working some Saturdays, responsibilities may include helping with after-hours call.
  2. Duties:
  1. Knowledge of and ability to utilize DSM-IV diagnostic criteria in evaluation and assessment of children, adolescents and adults.
  2. Knowledge of current professional standards of assessment and treatment.
  3. Knowledge of and adherence to mandated ethical standards of professional behavior.
  4. Knowledge of theory and treatment modalities as they relate to human development, substance abuse and mental illness.
  5. Ability to provide therapeutic interventions and/or make appropriate referrals.
  6. Responsible for providing on-call and emergency services – including crisis evaluation and assessment for involuntary hospitalization.
  7. Responsible for working cooperatively and positively with all internal staff and ancillary agencies.
  8. Responsible for completing required documentation of services – including grant reports, and court documentation and updating current policies, procedures and standards.
  9. Ability to assist with writing grants and administrative responsibilities relating to client registration, chart maintenance, billing/insurance information and quarterly documentation required by any granting agency.
  10. Responsible for ongoing community education and outreach, including but not limited to newspaper articles, presentations, panel discussions and public service announcements.
  11. Other duties as assigned by CEO.
 
IV.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective devices
  2. Visions: adequate to read 12-point font type with or without corrective lenses
  3. Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing with staff, patients and the general public
  4. Must have manual dexterity of hands/ fingers for  frequent writing, computer work, filing and assisting with procedures
  5. Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50lbs
  6. Must be able to subject to prolonged sitting, standing or walking

IFHS OPENS AT 9:30 AM the third Wednesday of each month due to our all-staff meeting.
